For my size, I started with a strip 5″ long by about 1″ to 1 1/2″ wide. On a larger shaped tag (starting size 4″ long by 2 3/4″ wide) we placed a clip so it could be a zipper pull.

  • Always test your shrink ratio with a scrap piece if you’re unsure.
  • Once the image is ready, bring it in to Design Space just like we did with the sunflower.
  • Grab some colored pencils and permanent markers and doodle away!
  • With adult supervision, even younger kids can enjoy them.
  • With some shrinky dinks, Sharpie markers, colored pencils, and comic action bubble graphics you will have a blast making these.

But beyond this, smaller designs tends to work better as they maximise the cute factor and are the easiest to keep flat. If your design does not entirely flatten, make sure it is is good and hot, and then place an acrylic block or another ceramic tile on top of it, to flatten it while it cools.

This is the coolest project that kids will love to make for Christmas. Check out this ornament craft for kids using PLASTIC CUPS! Of course, follow the directions on the package for your shrink film, but here is what we did.

Shrink plastic will curl up in the oven, but it should flatten out as it bakes. Once your designs have uncurled and are flat again, they won’t shrink anymore, so you can take it out of the oven. All the images are available in both color and black and white versions so you can print ready to make files, or have the option of coloring in your own.
